What Photography Taught Me About Leadership

Learning photography gave me an unexpected gift.

The ability to scan any room, any street, any grey Tuesday (we get lots of them in Scotland) and ask: what’s beautiful here, what’s hidden?

The answer, almost always, is everything.

Learning to see the world with awe takes real practice. But it replenishes you. It turns the ordinary into an endless source of inspiration.

As a leader, my job is the same as the photographer’s. Find what’s beautiful and hidden, and unlock it.

One uses a camera, the other uses coaching and observation.

P.S. these are my ‘holiday photos’ from the Baltics 😈

Come talk to me about it on LinkedIn
